Originally from southern China, Lilly graduated from the AFI Conservatory with an MFA in directing. Her thesis film “COLD WALL”, explored the struggles of a pregnant Chinese foreign student navigating a hostile social environment around a high school in LA.

Lilly’s deepening interest in female psychology motivated her debut feature “ONE GIRL INFINITE”. With this semi-autobiographical story, Lilly seeks to visually represent the texture of life in her hometown of Changsha, and the intense love that can form between two young women of certain age living in that city.

Supported by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth, Lilly set out to bring this story to life outside the bounds of Chinese censorship, to give a platform to the imminently cinematic lived-experiences of women who would otherwise be forgotten.
